Dental Playbox® Receives Cheque from Xerox (UK) Trust
Archie meets Adam
On Wednesday 17th November we had a very special visitor due to arrive at the Action for Sick Children office. Archie knew the visitor would want to take a photo when he arrived, so Kerry helped
him to get ready for his big debut! He even decided to do a bit of cleaning to get the place looking spic and span for our visitor!
The visitor was Adam Robinson from the Xerox (UK) Trust, and he’d brought along a cheque for £2,500 to go towards our Dental Playbox® project in 2018! While he was here, Kerry told Adam all about the project and showed him exactly what’s in one of the boxes. Adam then presented Archie with the cheque.
“I would just to say a huge thank you to Xerox for the fantastic donation they have given us for the project. This will enable us to carry on delivering the educational sessions to young children around oral health care and the importance of keeping their teeth clean and healthy!” – Kerry Hill (Senior Facilitator)
What is the Dental Playbox®?
Our Dental Playbox® Project was initiated in 2007 in response to the alarming increase in dental decay in young children. It continues today to not only reduce this issue but also to stem the ever-increasing numbers of young children becoming hospitalised due to tooth decay. According to statistics, over one third of children in the UK have tooth decay by the time they start primary school!
The project’s key aim is to teach young children about the importance of good oral hygiene, healthy eating and to prepare them from an early age for a trip to the dentist. This is all done through the powerful medium of play. Play is crucial at the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) so the project slots in perfectly with the curriculum.
