Buxworth Race for Action for Sick Children Was a Huge Success!

On the 3rd of May 2018, the 5 mile single lap road route took place from Buxworth Basin in the Village of Buxworth. This race, organised by the Goyt Valley Striders, is held every year and all the profits from the run are always donated to charity! Last year £478.71 profit was donated to the Brathay Trust. This year Action for Sick Children was the chosen charity supported at the event!

Record Turnout at Buxworth Race 2018

The Buxworth 5 Road Race went very well as per usual but the good news is the record turnout this year! 179 runners participated in it last month! Women and men of all ages joined the competition with a smile on their faces! We were glad to see so many people enthusiastic to support our cause while doing something they love – running! The unexpected record turnout of people allowed us to raise £705.50! We won’t stop saying thank you for all the support we keep receiving!

Action for Sick Children’s cause and projects

Our aim is to ensuring that children and young people receive the highest standards of care by supporting parents, carers and health care professionals. In order to achieve it, our team carries out two main projects: the Dental Playbox® and the Magical Power of Play Appeal (MPOPA). The projects are supported by several fundraising initiatives organised throughout the year. This month we are glad to have collaborated with the Goyt Valley Striders who organised this lovely event for sport lovers!

Every week, we are happy to see the number of children that get to know the Dental Playbox® Facilitators increasing. Also, the 2018 MPOPA objective gets closer day after day thanks to all the people that believe in our cause and work. However, Action for Sick Children wants to reach all the communities possible, to meet the unique needs of ALL sick children and young people throughout the UK (excluding Scotland). So, stay tuned for upcoming events that you could participate in with your whole family and support our work at the same time!

A special thank you to..

The Marple Runners entered a team into the race.

Action for Sick Children team does not want to forget to thank the Goyt Valley Striders members! They were the ones who picked our charity and joined the race as well!

We are grateful to everyone who decided to take part in the event. Either working for the organisation of it or running the 5 miles with a smile even on the testing climbs, thank you!
