Gill’s Story

Gill, our Office Manager

“I am Gill and I am the office manager at Action for Sick Children in Cheadle Hulme. I started working here in October 2007, so this year it’s going to be 11 years! Working at Action for Sick Children means responsibility to me, I am in charge of the finance and accounting.”

“I love working here because I believe we are a good team! My colleagues create a pleasant working environment, which is fundamental for me. Everyone’s happy in this office and we’ve always got on.”

“On a personal level, I can tell you that I am married and this year is going to be our 31st anniversary. I have a son named Neil who is 21 years old and a daughter, Hannah, who is 18 years old. My family comes with me when we hold fundraising events. All of them usually participate and actually Hannah used to be a volunteer for Action for Sick Children as well!”

“What do I like doing in my free time? Well, when I have some…” laughs and continues “My family and I have a caravan, so when the weather gets better, from March until October, we try to go to North Wales to relax. It’s nice there and we all enjoy a bit of sun and chill out during our walks.”

“A thing that I really like is getting to meet and talk to people and this is one of the aspects I like the most about my job. I’ve always enjoyed our fundraising events, especially the fashion ones we’ve had so far! This year I am organizing the National Play Day that we hold in August in Hazel Grove. Last year it was a success and I am really looking forward to the one in 2018! I am in charge of a lot of things at the event, from the tombola to the tea and cake stalls. Hope it’s going to be nice!”
